Community Preservation Act starts approval cycle for Norwood, Massachusetts

On May 9, 2016 a Special Town Meeting of Norwood, Massachusetts approved a Community Preservation Act for the town. This is only the first step in the process.

Next, the general population will vote on the measure.

This site will present the process of creating and using a Community Preservation Act (CPA) for Norwood. The folks writing here think this can be an effective tool for creating the future Norwood we would like to live in and leave for our children. Critics of the CPA have valid points that we will consider.

Like any powerful and effective tool, the CPA can be mismanaged and misused, but the CPA requires the approval of Town Meeting for every project approved and dollar spent. Like every law that sets up a system, there are a lot of details. We will start presenting them here.
