Debbie Holmwood organized the inaugural meeting of the CPA4Norwood group in support of a Community Preservation Act for Norwood, Massachusetts on May 26, 2016. Debbie graciously hosted it at her house.
CPA4Norwood was selected as the official name of the non-profit organization. Ten Norwood residents attended:
- Debbie Holmwood
- John Hall
- Richard M. Shay
- Michal Bergeron
- Carol MacLeary
- Patricia Sterritt
- John Mahoney
- Mary Gallagher
- Debra Pentowski
- Helen Gallagher
Officers were selected by acclamation.
- President: Debbie Holmwood
- Treasurer: Mary Gallagher
- Secretary: Richard M. Shay
John Hall offered to draft a strategic message and gather preliminary information to post and distribute.
Richard Shay informed the group that a website (cpa4norwood.org) had already been created.
Debbie Holmwood explained that papers to file for non-profit status needed to be signed and filed with the Town Clerk. Then the organization can apply for a bank account to handle funding of the effort and accept contributions and matching funds for the election campaign.
The group discussed participating in activities such as Norwood Day and parades as well as presenting to such groups as the League of Women Voters and the Senior Center. The need to create and display signs was discussed. We will also ask interested people to join our efforts.
The next meeting is scheduled for June 16, 2016 at 7:30 pm.
